Current Projects

Peace, Justice, and Nonresistance
We believe that peace is the will of God. God created the world in peace, and God’s peace is most fully revealed in Jesus Christ, who is our peace and the peace of the whole world. Led by the Holy Spirit, we follow Christ in the way of peace, doing justice, bringing reconciliation, and practicing nonresistance even in the face of violence and warfare.

As followers of Jesus, we participate in his ministry of peace and justice. He has called us to find our blessing in making peace and seeking justice. We do so in participating in projects with trusted partners around the world. Donations support projects that strive to bring change to all forms of violence, including war among nations, hostility among races and classes, abuse of children and women, violence between men and women, injustice, malnourishment.

Our Commitment
We are aware that our partners may not have the same opinion in all matters of faith, even by agreeing with these fundamental beliefs above. We recognize, however, that the points on which we agree are more important than those we disagree about. As committed partners to a variety of Christian communities we focus on a serving attitude to each other. We serve others in Jesus’ name. Professional, social and cross-cultural competence is to be used holistically and should especially benefit the poor and the exploited.

Thus, we help with know-how, through disaster relief, and with project funds. We support local communities, the local economy and local structures as well as local staff by sending workers alongside them. SMM Emergency Aid works closely with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, sharing God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice. MCC envisions communities worldwide in right relationship with God, one another and creation.

The SMM is an association formed, commissioned and authorized from all Mennonite communities within the Swiss Mennonite Conference. Donations are tax-deductible in Switzerland. Including those donated in 2017.
