DR of Congo: Mama Bongisa

The quantity and quality of healthy food is limited, due to small fields, undeveloped farmland, and poverty. Existing fields are often too far away to tent regulary. “Mama Bongisa” is a long-term initiative to help villagers to secure a balanced and healthy nutrition. Around the mission station in Vanga in the province of Bandundu in the upper area of the Kwilu, families are taught about healthy eating, how to create vegetable gardens, about storage and dissemination of healthy seed. Local managers visit the villages and farmers, they help to implement the project. SMM employees act as supporters and supervisors.
