SMM is currently offering short-term assignments and peace projects at the following locations:
- Sao Paulo / Brazil: Bringing hope to a poor neighborhood by sharing the gospel. People in need are admitted to a school program, weekly youth group afternoons, church services and English lessons for teens Through home visits, open-air church services and a library, English tutoring, life flows directly into the homes of the slums. Regular courses on womanhood / manhood, education in hygiene and health provide access to people who have never been confronted with the gospel. The minsitry is under the direction of Brazilian Christians. Language: Portuguese, English
- Porto Amazonas / Brazil: Children’s home and bakery. Participation in Creche and production of bakery products; Language: Portuguese and French. Heidi and Werner (A couple in the fifties) stayed in Porto Amazonas for several months: “It was so rewarding as a couple to bring expertise to a place where people live so differently than we’re used to. Our children are adult and we were looking for an opportunity to serve in the kingdom of God – as a married couple – to do something a very practical way. We certainly brought back a different perspective. It was worth doing.”
- Santa Cruz, Bolivia: Children’s Day Care. Participation in Creche. Language: Spanish.
