Socks

In February 2015 Mennonite Central Committee Reps for Iran, Iraq and Jordan were given a gift for Iraqi refugees. Mennonite churches in Switzerland gathered over 100 pairs of hand-knit socks and gave them to MCC to pass along to refugees.

MCC partner, the Latin Patriarchate Church, was aware of a group of Iraqi families living in the Church compound in Marka, a poor neighbourhood of Amman. The socks have been distributed in this neigborhood on Sunday, March 8, 2015 after their worship service. They warmly thanked the Mennonites for their gift of love to the refugee families. This tragedy united all Christians to come together and assist all of them.

The Mennonite church members are now knitting new socks and are joined by many friends, villagers and those who love to knit and have heard of this idea. Many wool is combined with lots of prayers and friendly thoughts for refugees.
